Cognitive Function — Human RCT
In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 30 adults with mild cognitive impairment, daily Lion's Mane supplementation over 16 weeks produced significant improvements in cognitive scores. Scores declined after supplementation stopped, confirming the effect was real (PMID: 18844328).

Mood and Wellbeing — Double-Blind RCT
A 2010 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in menopausal women found that Lion's Mane supplementation was associated with improvements in mood and general wellbeing over 4 weeks. The researchers noted that "hericenones and erinacines isolated from its fruiting body stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF) synthesis" (PMID: 20834180).

A 2025 systematic review of the full bioactive profile of Hericium erinaceus confirmed that it "enhanced pro-BDNF and BDNF production, promoted hippocampal neurogenesis, and improved behaviour" alongside reductions in depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbance symptoms (PMID: 40959699).

Research Note: The evidence base for Lion's Mane is growing but still preliminary compared to some adaptogens. Human trials are limited in size. What is well-established is the mechanism — hericenones and erinacines are the only known compounds from food sources that stimulate NGF synthesis and cross the blood-brain barrier. Why This Extract Matters
Most Lion's Mane products on the market aren't extracts. They're ground mycelium — the root-like structure that grows through grain. When you test that powder, you're often testing grain starch, not mushroom. Independent testing has confirmed that some products labelled "Lion's Mane" contain 50–70% grain starch by weight.

Have you changed your Lions Mane product? I noticed that the colour is different, it smells and tastes different and the consistency is also different.

Tastes - slightly more bitter
Consistency - it is a rougher consistency. The orders I have received from you in the past have been a fine consistency. This consistency is not as fine and a lot of the product sinks to the bottom of my tea.
I noticed that you now have an Organic Lions Mane product. Is this the product that you used to sell as your Lions Mane and it has now been elevated as organic? Or could it be that your supply and/or production has changed?
The finer consistency and taste is what drew me to your product and I bought a bulk pack of it - this is my 3rd bulk pack purchase with Teelixir. I have been ordering through you for a few years now and I would be happy to hear your response to my feedback when possible.
